Default Read This Before Posting! FAQ & Rules for the VAG-COM forum

Welcome to the VAG-COM VW/Audi Computer Diagnostics Forum on AudiWorld.

This forum is sponsored by <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com">Ross-Tech</a>, the creators of VAG-COM diagnostic software for VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda.

This forum is intended to foster discussion of diagnostic problems and procedures related to the use of VAG-COM.

Before posting any question, please take the time to read the <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/main_screen.html">VAG-COM Manual</a> and the <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/vag-com-faq.html">VAG-COM FAQ</a>. Please use the <a href="https://www.audiworld.com/search/">AudiWorld Search</a> to see if your question has already been answered.

When posting questions related to a problem you are having with a particular car, always state the exact make/model/year/engine of the car you are having a problem with. Also state any modifications you have made to the car. Incomplete information will often get you no answer, or worse yet, the wrong answer.

When posting questions involving trouble codes, post the complete code(s), and the text that comes with them. Do not omit anything, and don't drop any digits, not even a leading zero! Make sure to mention which controller (Engine, ABS, etc.) had the fault code(s). VAG codes are 5 digit numbers, unlike Generic OBD-II P-Codes, which are the letter P followed by four numbers. If you have a diagnostics question relating to VAG-COM or one of the factory tools (VAG-1551, VAS-5052, etc.), feel free to post it here. If you have a diagnostics question relating to an Autozone scan, it should be posted in the AudiWorld Autozone Forum ;-) or in a forum relating to your specific vehicle or engine. Any posts that do not pertain to VAG-COM or VAG diagnostics will be locked or moved by moderators.

When posting questions related to VAG-COM itself, always state the version number (you can find it on the Opening Screen and the About
Screen) and details about the PC (make/model/CPU/Operating-System) as well as the name of the Interface cable that you are using.

If you are having problems with a function that requires the Registered Version of VAG-COM, please state that you are a registered user and include enough information in your post to allow us to identify you as such. Your full name and postal code will usually suffice. Do not bother us with posts saying things like "I can't match keys to my immobilizer" or "I can't reset my service Indicators" unless you are a legitimately registered user and are willing to show evidence of it. If you are concerned about privacy, <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/contact.html">Contact Ross-Tech Directly</a> with your question.

All users must abide by the <a href="https://www.audiworld.com/forum/faq.shtml">AudiWorld Forum Rules</a> and this would preclude questions like:

1) Asking for illegal copies of VAG-COM, other diagnostics software, VESIS/AESIS/ETKA/ELSA or asking for passwords or cracks.

2) Questions about design and construction of home-made interfaces are Off-Topic, as are connection problems if you're using a home-made interface or a 3rd party interface.

3) Keep posts on-topic! If it doesn't have anything to do with computer diagnostics of VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda cars, don't post it.
