Default Just got my Vag - Com today, and I need some help.

I was able to connect and recode the Tranny,
also reset the Service reminders.
However when I ran the "auto" to check for fault Codes, it worked for 01 and 02 then I got this message for 03:

Interface Status = 3

Interface Not Ready !
Possible Reasons:

* Incorrect COM Port Selected
* Interface not plugged in
* Ignition not turned on
* K-Line Stuck

For more details,
Use TEST on Options Screen

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Default Here's something you can try:

We've heard of one other instance like this. It seems there is one 02 - Auto Trans controller that hangs on to the bus for what seems like ages (or at least a few seconds) after the session is closed. In your VAG-COM directory is a file called AutoScan.txt. You can open this in Notepad and edit the line for your vehicle, moving 02 to the end of the list. Save the file, and the next time you run AutoScan, it should save 02-Auto Trans for the very end.

Default Recode Tranny....

Simply by recoding the tranny, what type of "butt dyno" improvement do you feel?

I know that installing the GIAC tip chip is the way to go. But in the mean time, will I get a noticable improvement by recoding through my brand spanking new VAG-com due at my house tomorrow?

Default It up shifts at a slightly higher RPM during normal driving, and.....

It shifts faster. But the main difference is that when you use the Triptronic mode it will stay in first gear for as long as you want without applying full gas.
You can read more about it here.

Your tranny codes are different since this is for the A8

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/auto_transmission/codingtransmission.html</a
