Default What tablet are you using?

Lots of talk about the Dell Venue Pro 8 as a great platform. What else are people having success with using the HEX-USB cables?
TIA!

Works like a champ for both HEX-CAN and HEX-NET.
HEX-NET of course is platform independent, but that wasn't your question

I really like the Surface but couldn't justify the cost as VCDS is my only Windows need.
Bonus on the Surface is the full size USB cables instead of the hokey OTG dongle.

What about the Surface RT? Those seem to be cheap and abundant on Craigslist.

Has to be a Pro model - the RT is a non-Intel processor.
Probably why there are so many of them for sale.
I almost made that mistake myself.

Per FAQ 1.16
There are two versions of these tablets, "Surface" and "Surface Pro".
The regular "Surface" tablets are based on ARM CPUs running "Windows RT" and have no compatibility with normal Windows x86 programs.
The regular Windows-based version VCDS will not work on these, but VCDS-Mobile does.
The "Surface Pro" tablets use Intel CPUs and Windows 8 Pro, and VCDS will works fine on them.

Good info. Thanks. I thought I remembered that the RT was a no-no. Anything that will work well?

I've been real happy with my Venue Pro 8, and even use it for work a little.
For $305 it's not a bad deal

Just make sure to get an OTG adapter to get a 'normal' size USB plug.

Uwe turned me on to this and it arrived yesterday

It's better than the straight one I got at first - cable is easier to manage and it doesn't put as much pressure/stress on the port.

I do think a stylus is a must have with these smaller tablets.
Small check boxes are easier to use, but make sure you get the new version "REV A02" if you get the Dell.

Added fun with tablets and Chromecast:

That seems to the best bet. Ebay has some good deals on the Venue 8.
