VCDS 10.6.3
Went to scan my car, when I started VAG-COM it told me there was an upgrade available, so I downloaded it and scanned the car. After I saved the scan I looked at it and I noticed that the vehicle info such as VIN# and mileage was no longer at the top of the list. Does 6.3 no longer include this? Any help would be welcome.

#2 is a complete Auto-Scan while #3 is not. VCDS only pulls the VIN (as well as mileage and other data) during the Auto-Scan. If you go straight into a control module that information is not necessary and therefor VCDS does not obtain it.

Hi Walter,
It looks like you have a communication problem of some sort, and I suspect that's why the mileage wasn't shown in the most recent Auto-Scan. Please try scanning with another PC or see the possible causes of flaky communication here: 2.5 VCDS communicates, but it's "flaky"
If you contact us directly, please provide details about the brand and model of PC, Windows OS and a link to this thread. If you're using a laptop please let us know if it's running on battery power or a vehicle adapter/charger of some sort

Hi Dana, thanks for the reply, I don't have another laptop to try this with, this only surfaced after I downloaded the latest version of VCDS 10.6.3. The same laptop was used for the other scans. Nothing was changed to my knowledge. I'm using a Dell Inspiron B 130 running Windows XP home edition. Browser is Firefox. This is the set up that I've been using since I bought the VAG Scan tool. All the scans were done using battery power.

Have you disabled all of the non essential startup programs and virus protection or firewall software on that PC?
* Start -> Run -> MSCONFIG > Click the startup tab and disable all (or nearly all programs) > reboot the PC.
Did you tweak the USB Root Rub power settings?
* Device Manager, USB Root Hub, Properties, Power Management, and uncheck "Allow Windows to turn off this device to save power"
Is anything wrong with the vehicle, such as inoperative functions of any systems or MIL lights? Is the battery voltage and charging system okay, have you scanned while the car was running to rule that out?
