Instrument Cluster consumption signal correction: ERROR
Hi all,
My car is a 1998.5 A4 (B5) with LCD DIS instrument cluster. I have a url=http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/kii-usb.html]Ross-Tech VCDS KII-USB[/url].
A while back I had an aftermarket ECU tune for a non-stock turbo. I had corrected the Fuel Consumption Signal through the instrument cluster via VCDS from 100 to 105 to correct for it displaying a higher MPG than what my mileage-vs-gallons was.
Now the car is all-stock as far as engine/ECU/turbo, and the MPG is reading lower than actual. I've determined I want to program in a Consumption Correction adaptation value of 101 to hopefully bring it down to where it should be.
BUT - perhaps the cluster has other ideas. Going into Instrument Cluster --> Adaptation --> Channel 02 --> then changing the value directly and clicking "Test" or pushing the up/down arrows results in a ERROR readout. I've tried the Login with code 18631 (I think it was, it was the value that shows in the pop-up dialog box), but still no luck. Have tried various combinations of clearing Fault Codes on the cluster, etc. but seem to be out of luck.
It's not a huge issue, and it's kinda nice that the real MPG is better than displayed, but the correction should be working (as it did before).
Any insights or other things to try? Maybe a different Login code or something?
Thanks in advance!

There was no prompt suggesting that the login had been accepted. I tried a various number of combinations of ignition cycling/logging in/adaptation. It just feels like something is missing.

Yes that's correct, and what I've been using.
Had a chance to play around with it more, but nothing really new to report.
I tried logging in with code 13861, clicked "Do it!", and the prompt closed. Then I went into Adaptation, Channel 03, and tried changing the consumption correction to 101 from 105 by clicking Test, and then ERROR comes up.
I also tried clicking Test without changing the 105 value, and that allows me to Save it (whether or not I previously Logged In), but still no combination of things seems to allow the consumption signal to be changed.
Any other ideas?

The only thing I can think to try is doing it in smaller jumps (e.g. 101 -> 103) and see if it takes.
Otherwise you may have to open a ticket with Ross-Tech unless someone else has seen this.

Tried simply clicking the up or down arrows (increments of 1) which had the same result unfortunately.
I just sold the car to a buddy, if he is concerned with it then I'll definitely reach out to Ross-Tech directly.
Thanks for your help!
