Hello,

on my A8 V8 3.3 TDI Quattro, By 3 or 4 time, I have same problem.
On motorway, not quickly (about 110 km/h -70 mph) no more power, big dark smoke on exhaust.... I drive quietly and after few (10/15 long) minutes, everything is normal ???!!!

I pass my VAG_COM to find 1 fault :

17575 - Mass air flow sensor 2 (G246) : Implausible signal
P1167 - 35 - 10 - - - Intermittent

I don't know if it is a wiring problem or a sensor problem, more chance to second choice I think.

Perhaps can you help me about location of this sensor.

Although I am not really familiar with that engine, the code implies that the car has dual Mass Airflow Sensors. If this is the case and they are interchangeable, you might consider swapping them to see if the fault moves with the sensor or not.

Sorry about my awful English language... I am best in French !!!

It's a good idea to swap the two sensors,

But I am not sure where they are located.
This evening I am going to look closer and unmount the air box filter an more in admission air circuit to found the sensors.
