Default Adaptive Headlight Failure

I have had an adaptive headlight failure on my 2005 A6 for several weeks. Have a bad Left headlight module and the dealer wants $1000 to replace. I have 106k on the car and its not worth it to me.

Is there a way with the VAG to ignore the adaptive lights so I don't have to stare at the warning indicator until I get rid of the car in a year? I can certainly live without them working but the flashing indicator is driving me nuts.

No, VCDS cannot help you disable this nor do we think it would be advisable to do so.

Thanks. It was worth a try. Not sure about the "not advisable" part, but if it can't do it, it can't. So far the only way I can find to keep that blinking indicator from driving me nuts is to keep my eyes closed. Next thing you know someone is going to tell me that's not advisable!! ;-)

A bit of this might be safer than closing your eyes:
