Default MkII TT Drive impressions

Drove the MkII TT today, 2.0L DSG.
This is a much improved car in every way.
It handles better, accelerates better, and stops better.
Steering is more precise and way lighter.
I know it's 200hp, but the DSG, the gearing, makes it *feel* faster than a chipped, modded 225.
I was leery of the 2.0 with the DSG, but in sport mode, which is the only mode I drove in, I dare say this car will out-perform a modded 225, in every aspect.
I drove it around the freeway here, hard, near the dealer, and there are 2 freeway entrances that I like, both are long, 'S' curve entrances. Push this car hard; there is no body roll, and it pulls like mad, with no turbo lag. I hit 90+ at the end of the ramps. The DSG is really great.

Here are some pics and comments
I saw 2 coupes, and black and silver.
The sales guy told me he has a 3.2 6MT coupe and 2, 2.0 DSG roadsters coming in 3 weeks. Don't know where it was said the 3.2 won;t be here 'till fall.

The front of the car is it's best look in person.

under hood is flat body color, no padding.

A transmission cooler?

Headlight bulbs are easier to get at. big round rubber grommet here.
Whole headlight slides forward, removing 2 screw on the top.

Since the battery is in the trunk, there are charge posts on the top here.

IC hose routing at the bottom.

Trunk -looks to be smoother material, feels almost like Alcantara

Battery mount - no spare, just missing I think.

interior is very nice.
I fit in it very well Seats are much improved, hug my fat *** well.

<img src="http://jbipes.home.comcast.net/jpgs/mkii/wheel.jpg">

HVAC controls are easy to operate, a bright red band follows you around the dials.
And a dedicated 'AC' button.

Default Great write-up...

I'm very interested in driving a TT mkII as comparison to an early mkI. I know that my car feels different than the later variants. Not only do I have the first generation of suspension, but the car has a lighter feel than later models I have driven.

I'm still on the fence between the TT and the S5 and would like to read driving reviews on the new S5 in the not too distant future.

That button merely turns the auto-dim on or off. No 2.0T badging?

Default thank you!..and heres my review

i also had a chance to test drive a fully loaded silver MKII 3.2 TT with enhanced black leather at my local dealership
it just looks downright mean/aggressive in person
i walked into the dealership in a usually not so busy weekday afternoon and there was a crowd of people waiting to take a test drive

after the test drive, i must say
i just loved every second of driving it
the car handles like a champ, the brake is awesome, steering wheel is light in standard mode
while in the sport mode, the car is a totally different beast
the quality of the interior is top notch
absolutely love the leather seats, grip my butt really well, no sliding around when you turn corners
turned a lot of heads while cruising down the road

my sales person is 6"4 and fitted fine in the car without a problem, he just got tranferred to Audi sales dept. from Porsche a month ago, and he says that TT is truly a better value than the basic cayman (which he was considering getting one for himself), now he says he may just get one of these

if i must pick something bad about the car, it is the bluetooth phone cradle in the back

thats my review on the new MKII TT

on a side note, the dealership has already had 12 R8 orders in their system now
cant wait to see one in person!

No 2.0T badging? yea, odd. Both cars had no badging. Think they are perm. demo cars

they are the dealers demo cars, and from what I know, will not be sold.
