Default Days 2, 3 & 4 at HP (BWW!)

Well better late than never...

I've been meaning to keep you guys updated on the progress of my car at HPA day by day, however travel took the best of me - and after a long two-day travel itinerary, here I am now in my hotel room in Zurich drewling over the pictures HPA is sending me of the progress on the "surgery" :-)

First of all, the engine head was completely removed last Friday, and the most intensive work had begun!

This is how the 3.2 VR6 engine looks like "beheaded":

Here are the parts that will go in the engine bay:

FT400smic Turbo kit goes in!
With custom intake manifold mind you - yellow Audi rings replaced "R32" logo, courtesy Marcel's creativity ;-)

Only thing left to install is the beefed-up rear swaybar.
Once everything is all bolted & adjusted, it's testing time!!!

Can you tell I'm excited.. man I'm not gonna sleep tonight!

Enjoy :-)

Default I like everything BUT the exhaust..........

I guess I just don't understand why they went through all that trouble to keep the flapper in place when in robs HP as proven on R32 dyno's. I also don't get why they would keep the very restrictive stock exhaust in place - see the big crimp under the haldex? With a good exhaust without the flapper - i'd estimate another 20hp would be easily found.

Other than that - looks great - which is what I would expect from HPA.

Default Very interesting Marc! Do they lower compression for the turbo?

If so, how do they do it?

Default I was a little surprised too at first, however...

since I had asked them to leave the exhaust stock for now (keeping in mind future upgrades), this is probably the best thing they could have come up with.

When the flap is closed, the exhaust will act as stock - when it's opened, it will bypass the muffler on the left tip.

HPA re-mapped the ECU to have the flap open/close under different conditions, however I predict it will be nice to still have full control of it via the console switch for certain circumstances (i.e. need to have the exhaust quiet, or fully opened during track events).
