Worked on mounting the temperature probes today and wiring up the monitors. Drilled a hole in the IC in and out tubes for the probe mounts and held in place with a wide tie-wrap, sealed with a dab of high temp silicone. End result looks like this:

Wired the probes to a length of 4 conductor telephone cable led into the cockpit and wired to the actual gauges:

First test (stabilized idle) resulted in this. Using the formula to calculate IC efficiency (temp in -temp out/temp in - ambient) resulted in an apparent 88.28% efficiency of the FMIC to remove heat. (F to C conversion= C x 1.8+32)

This seems pretty damned good, but represents numbers at idle and not under load (or shortly after) where the temps will be much higher I'm sure. If not, then the fan cooling idea will have proven to be a waste of time. I'll try to get load temp data in the coming week! More pics at the site. Enjoy!

Looking good Steve....
..sorry to hear that there is a possability that the fan cooling is(was) a waste of time, but that would be great news for the FMIC + spray.
Very interested in exploring this myself at a later date (ie funds and FMIC LOL)

We can do this.....>>
I'll work up a test procedure and ask Chris (JazziTT) to run the same tests. He's the only one I know of who has IC temp monitoring installed (stock IC's). Should be interesting...

Nothing running......>>>
And neither woud be effective in this idle test as the IC out temps are already so close to ambient (meaning the FMIC appears to be a VERY efficient disapator of heat). The real test will come after the car is put under load and boost where all temps will be elevated dramatically. Stay tuned.
