Ground wire to boost control valve caused problem/problems
I fixed my cars lack of power by redoing the ground wire to the boost control valve (I have read about some of you having the same problem). This is a light weight wire and can be broken if not careful when changing the DV valve as the boost control valve is located near the DV valve. I will take a picture later and repost some detials. The fault codes that come up are 17956: boost pressure control valve open, and 17536: long trem fuel mult. system lean. The car has no power when this happens although it is not bad just driving arround at normal speeds. If you think your car has lost power you should check this, the wire will look fine but can break inside the connector. The car was into Audi three times, the first time they changed the BC valve, the 2nd time the DV cvalve ( I knew that was not the problem) and the third time they re did the ground wire Connector except their repare only lasted two days. When I re did the work, this time soldering the wires where they had used crimp connectors, the problem was fixed. What's more I told them to check the ground wire the first time around because I had read about the problem here. Finally they lost one of the three engine cover fasteners, grade-F. JIM
