Default Elbow Activated Storage Compartment Door (rant)

The EASCD is an interesting, albeit undocumented, feature of a mostly well-designed car. I'm CONSTANTLY bumping the stupid storage compartment door between seats w/ elbow thereby unintentionally opening the door. it stays open, silently waiting for me to jam my elbow back into its lip. This results in yet another fit of cursing, slamming it shut and reigniting of my vow to lather it with duct tape to terminate its insolence. why didn't they put a latch on it, MAYBE like the latch/lock on the little door cleverly hidden behind the passenger seat that's impossible to get to? probably too busy programming the window closer randomizers (which I've only read about, mine work fine. so far.)
just wunderin'

Default Yes, it is a bit of a pain. I store my Glock 19 there (should anyone call my TT ugly as recently

happened to one of our members). I often don't realize that it has opened, and would rather that the aforementioned gun is not openly displayed. BTW, the gun is mandatory equipment - I sometimes travel to Miami.

Default Don't actually know what the compartment looks like since

I'm a coupe owner, but is there some way to put a hidden strip of velcro inside the closure so that you have to actively open instead of being able to bump open?

Default I hate that door too....I was installing the cupholder add-on for the Stratmosphere armrest the....

..other day and I must've hit that thing and opened it about 20 times. Instead of duct tape, I was thinking of running a drywall screw or two through it.

Default I think the problem with that is that there is nothing o grab onto on the outside in order to pull

it. Maybe a nice brass kitchen cabinet **** could be applied.

Default Could you take a small leather pull tab of some sort and attach between

the top and bottom so that it sticks out tastefully...you'd then have something to pull. Hmmm, I'll have to look at this compartment on Kim and BlueshirTT's today ... I love trying to solve these PIA things. This is the type of thing that would make me nuts...LOL.

Default I edited my message above and added the thought of installing a nice brass kitchen....

...cabinet ****.
