I'm running 235/40x17's on 17x8.5 ET35, they're 0.6" shorter than stocks so the speedo runs just a bit high but the net is like changing the final drive so it's actually faster off the line (albeit minimally). I've got Eibach Pro-Kit springs that lower only 7/8" and there is no problem with rubbing.
