Tape player to Concert II CD swap woes
So thanks for the link last night on how to enter the new code and get it out of SAFE mode. Just so we are on the same page I have a 2001 TT which has a tape player and have swapped it out for a new in the box Concert II CD player. The problems I have now are 2 fold.
1, The head unit remains on when I turn the ignition off in the car. Regardless of the ignition setting the Concert II only turn off when you press the button on the front in.
2, Although I get RDS functions on the radio display I am not getting any info displayed on the drivers display. I checked the harness twice and even went so far as to plug the old head unit back in and it worked fine.. the new unit does not seem to be working with the display in the car..?
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Dave

Seems like the connections might differ between the two units...
Did you compare pin by pin and ensure what is being feed into or out of each connection is the same between the two? I tried to pull them up in a Bently but there were no options for tape players versus CD.

Re: Seems like the connections might differ between the two units...
They looked almost identical. There were 2 pins that seemed to be missing on the new head unit that were inclided in the old one. Let me take some photos and post them and see if the great minds here can sort through it. I hope it would be a re-pinn issue too. I can live without the RDS but having it say on all the time is just a PITA.. So anyone know what unit i should have got them? the 01's seemed to be 50/50 with tape and cd players.

Re: I am in the same Situation
Hi, I am in the same situation as you, I have a 2001 and wanted a CD. Short answer, the Concert I & Concert II are 2 different animals, so far here's what I've fount to make it work ... you need a Can-Bus adapter/simulator, I just got mine this week (check the link), with the adapter the radio should have the lighs and work with the ignition, speed/volumen control ... but no cluster display info. I am still having problems but I think I am not connecting the adapter properly.
Cheers
