This is what I've done to the car so far (not including cleaning the engine compartment and interior, nor applying protectants (Lexol/ Vinylex, etc.)).
Would appreciate you taking a look to see if you feel I am on the right track, or is there something I am completely missing. BTW, all of my "notes" are personal and not meant to be directed to any reader (they are just notes I've jotted down for future reference). Thanks! Maintenance/Upgrades Date Mileage 8/23/08 107,600 Added 8 oz. Auto-Rx to engine. Oil level too high, so took out one qt (engine oil pressure light came on w/in a few miles...now intermittent). 8/24/08 107,613 Installed new ball joints. Added 2 oz. Auto-Rx to transmission. Flushed brake lines and added new fluid. Found outer boot on front passenger CV axle to be broken (temporary seal (Household Goop) applied). 8/26/08 107,623 Added 2 ox. Auto-Rx to power steering reservoir (leave in for 1k miles, then drain and flush with new fluid). 8/29/08 107,680 Installed four new coil packs and new spark plugs (BKR6E). Installed new valve cover gasket (old gasket had complete break in it). Installed new windshield wiper blades (PITA until I started using my brain. Managed to break the damn windshield!!!). 8/31//08 107,726 New instrument cluster installed. Checked lights per AW regarding a broken switch (all fine). 9/4/08 107,750 Installed Powerflex "dog bones" (old ones were both very worn). Changed both tranny and differential fluid (14mm Allen). Each enclosure took ~ 2 quarts. Added ½ oz. Auto-Rx to each housing. Began touching up undercarriage light rust with rust converter. No indication of oil pressure light (not happened in over 100 miles). 9/5/08 107,766 Installed new fuel filter (PITA). Installed new cabin filter. Installed new coolant sensor. 9/6/08 107,795 Installed Koni FSD shocks. Shocks were rusted through to the point I could see the piston inside (each side). Struts proved a bit more difficult than anticipated (by a "bit" I mean a lot!). Springs on all four axles look fine. Removed and cleaned oil pan (cleaned in organic solvent bin). Cleaned oil pump screen (had flecks of aluminum or metal in the screen (oil bottle seal?)) and re-installed with new silicone sealant. Allowed to cure for 1.5 hours before filling pan with oil. Re-applied silicone to all CV boots and anything else that looked like rubber. Found inner boot on front passenger CV axle to be broken (temporary seal (household Goop) applied). 2000 Lake Silver Metallic TTQC |
