    belt..

As some of you may recall, I brought my car in for a replacement cluster just this week. I also among other things decided to do the timing belt inspection, so that I could potentially keep the new timing belt damage warranty intact. Well they told me, like they've told everyone else, that my timing belt was in terrible condition and that it had cracks in it, and that it needed to be replaced. I knew this might be coming (as per reading the posts of others), but I was still shocked since I had my timing belt replaced not too long ago.

I told them that my timing belt had been replaced already. They of course questioned where (no doubt b/c they were ready to blast any indie or diy installation), mine at great expense had actually been done at a dealership. At that point they didn't know what to do, and they said they'd look at it again. *I went with them* The belt looked great! They apologized and said they had made a mistake, and removed the negative remarks and suggestion to replace the belt my service reciept. They also mentioned that policy is to pretty much tell everyone that they have a bad belt b/c of liability issues, in case someone drives off the lot and then breaks down.
