I dropped it off on Aug 7 (actually did after hours on Aug 6) and it was ready for pickup Aug 18.
They first told me they didn't think my problem was valid for the cluster settlement. When I pointed out that (1) my repairs had been pre-approved by the settlement administrator (I provided them with a copy of the letter prior to them claiming that) and (2) that my specific problem (fuel gauge) was mentioned as an "e.g." in the settlement documents, they decided to go ahead and contact Audi and get approval to do the work. Next they found that they didn't have a cluster for my car ('00) in stock and had to order it -- despite my appointment having been made more than a week ahead of time and me telling them at the time I scheduled it that I was pre-approved for the repair. Next they fully installed the cluster that arrived BEFORE NOTICING THAT IT WAS IN KM, NOT MILES. Thankfully somebody there noticed before it was returned to me. But they had to re-order the part. While removing the KM cluster, they destroyed the headlight switch and had to replace that as well (their dime). Finally, they installed the correct new cluster and both my temp and fuel gauges appear to work properly again. When I picked it up, i noticed that the work order noted "Missing Pixels Found." Well, when I took it in, there weren't any missing pixels but I'm guessing this is what they decided to tell AoA in order to get paid. Of course they could have just told them "it's a car you pre-approved for warranty repair through the settlement due to fuel/temp gauge problems" but instead they chose to make up a pixel problem. Whatever... it was 6:30 and everybody of any authority was already gone. Besides, I was truthful in all my documentation to get approved for repair. If the dealership chose to commit fraud (unnecessarily, I might add), that's their problem. Regards, Tex |
