Antenna Cap Replacement - coupe
Hi all, quick easy job this morning, replacing the antenna cap on the roof of my coupe. I ripped mine taking the winter cover off the car - oops. (This covers the cap or protective sheath as Bentley calls it, not the actual antenna, which is covered in this great writeup by Rich - SparTTan).
First up, this is part number 8Z0 862 057 - some coupes have an earlier style. I paid about $15.

Here's the naked antenna:

Bentley describes removal as follows:
Insert a suitable plastic wedge between sealing lip (arrows) and roof -2- and carefully
lever off protective sheath - 1 -.

Cap and antenna side by side:

To install, carefully push and twist a little, making sure the cap locks in position over the lip.
Bentley:
Press protective sheath carefully onto antenna using a light turning motion until it locks.

And the completed look -
Bentley: Sealing lip must be pressed outward in a mushroom shape and contact roof simultaneously.

Yes, Audi updated the antenna sheath after 2000 and early 2001 -
Not really sure why, maybe yours is a one piece and mine is strictly a cover for the actual antenna.
