EPC light and CEL hopefully fixed with new throttle body and gas pedal >>
Hey guys. I spent this morning swapping parts.
I had been getting a 17579 DTC for the "throttle angle sensor" - it came along with limp mode and EPC/CEL lights. In short, it sucked and was pissing me off. I tried cleaning the throttle body and the contacts - but, nothing worked. So I bought a used throttle body and gas pedal on ebay for a total of $100. The 17579 code generally points to a bad TB, but I had tried a different one in there and got the same code. Some people have also said a bad MAF can trigger this, but mine is new. Lastly, the pedal potentiometer can cause the angle code - so that's where I am now.
Here's the side to side. New (used) TB on the left. I cleaned it really good with some gumout TB cleaner. I also cracked it open and cleaned the contact points with electrical cleaner.

New one in place.

On to the gas pedal.

All back together.

Cleared the codes with VAG-COM and did a throttle body alignment. Drove around a bit and gave it hell. No codes came back, but only time will tell.

Looks like you did a good job. Sorry I couldn't be there to help. Whose the nurse with the rubber gloves holding the TB?
