2 days ago I posted about the bad Misfire, coil packs, wiring harness & MAF issue. Well I changed the 4 Coil Packs & plugs. Runs great except for some cold start misfire now. It's gone when the car gets warm. Mechanic says I need to change the wiring harness, is it deteriorating!!. Dealer says never heard of the problem before. So what you guys think ??!!. I was quoted $1800 to replace the entire wiring harness for the car, to be safe , cause who knows what's there that you can't see!!. The car 01 TTQC 180,48k miles. thanks in advance for your replys.

Default Actually one of my connectors is broken, but friction seems to be working for me.

I hope that $1800 wasn't just the coilpack harness.

Default Actually I stand corrected.... (edited)

On the ATC at least the entire engine harness is only sold as one piece. I would buy new connectors for the coils and splice in some new wiring, personally, before I replaced the whole harness.

Default Dealer Says no coil harness , must buy >>>

the whole thing which is $ 754 , Labor about $600 . Did the 2001 have a heat shield originally?? , or was that somthing that was added on later models only??

Default See my edited post above... they are correct, HOWEVER...

I would NOT replace the whole harness. You can buy the individual connectors for each coil @ around $10/ea... you should have a competent shop splice in new wiring-- replacing the whole engine harness to correct this small problem is total overkill.
