Default If you are putting Threaded inserts in the front plastic trim......

As Hans stated the other day you need to be careful not to use something too high. There are 4 locations to watch out for, as shown below:

<img src="http://images15.fotki.com/v234/photos/6/645139/2713159/nutinserts020copy-vi.jpg">

I put tape on the underside of the hood to see if there was enough clearance:

As you can see, if the bolt is too high it will leave a mark in the tape like this one:

A large socket head screw like this is too high, even with a small washer, in the four locations noted above, this will work in the other two locations in the center of the hood, and no problem with the engine cover or fluid cover:

You need to use something pretty low profile to work in the four locations noted above, like this button head:

Default hmmm...if I were to have received these today, this might be an excellent thing to know!! : )

Came Today, Bob,

Thanks!
Got both sets, and both really look fine to me, I'm not that picky about it. I'll give it a try. I have to drill the opening out a bit, right, per your previous post?

Cheers,

Rich

Default Good............

Glad you got them and they are OK, the inserts I used spec a 10mm drill. I got them from McMaster Carr part# 94020A383. But I used a 3/8 and had to ream it a bit, just do it slow so the hole doesn't get too big. You want them to go in tight. I think you got the smaller button head, so they should be fine. Also the washers are a shade too big for the battery and fluid cover. I put them in upside down and put a small bend on them then flipped them right side up and put them back in.

I think any old fashioned screw would work, just be careful to protect your hood! ; )
