Default For all those of you actually doing your own Blueflame install..

A few tips:

1. The fvcking heat sheild has to be cut. No one ever said this, blueflame didn't mention it and no instructions were provided with the exhaust. See picture:

<img src="http://www.scottberry.com/tttalk/blueflame.JPG">

The red part is what we cut out. I also used some tin snips and cut the remaining bits and bent them up flat so there was some sheild left.

2. TONS of smoke came out when we hit operating temps. My guess is that it was some of the sticky/gooey stuff that was left in the pipes from bending/cutting. Not sure what they use, but it sure makes a lot of smoke.

3. Yes, you do need the extra bracket/hanger from audi if you don't have it. It really supports the mid and downpipes.

Bracket <a href="http://www.worldimpex.com/item_detail.html?sku=79578" target="_blank">8N0-253-463-A</a>&lt;br /&gt;
Rubber hanger for 225s <a href="http://www.worldimpex.com/item_detail.html?sku=79430" target="_blank">1J0-253-147-C</a>

4. Yes, one of the tips is NOT welded from the factory. It's meant to be that way. See the no instructions comment above. You get a clamp with the exahust that you should put on the tip first, tighten down a bit and then put the tip on. All this, of course, after the exahust is all installed. Worked like a charm and lined up great.

----------

It lined RIGHT the f-up and looked great from the start. Sounds awesome. Nice a quiet, adds a nice deep tone to the exahust note and no drone. It's not rice, it's not annoyingly loud and it isn't going to make alarms go off. However, it's one of the nicest looking exhausts and very well made. Can't beat the price.

And of course, once again thanks to Umlautt for his install help.

We also started the DZus install. You need the longer ones 5-7mm, so make sure you order those. We have all but one bracket installed (Lost one down in the engine bay of doom) so I need to order one more.

Default Those of us with the forge knew about the heat shield cutting. And yes, there >>

was some smoke from the oils in the can on first start up / warm up. It went away quickly.

Good job. Great tips. I like those. I'm partial to my extended tips now. Might change my mind after seeing those in person however.

Default Thanks... didn't know any of that, but of course didn't research forge install.

I like the tips and they do nicely extend when heated up. You could probably get a few more MM out of them by fudging the mid pipe connector a little bit.

Default should also mention it doesn't come with a gasket for the joint between muffler and midpipe

I installed it the first time without a gasket and felt a bit of a leak after a few days. Undid the joint and used a high temp silicone liquid gasket. That seems to have done the trick.

If you had checked Steve Schwing's Fokti on his Forge install you would've seen where you needed to snip the heat shield.

I love the tips too even with the cheesy blue flame stickers.

Where did you get the extra bracket and hanger from? I'm checking with the local dealer on pricing.

Default Links to the extra bracket are in my post.

I didn't use a gasket at all, guess we'll see. If worse comes to worse, I'll use your same suggestion.

How did you know there was a leak? Could you hear it?
