Well done and documented, did you see what the tools, used to release the radio looked like?

Great and text/pics!! The dealer fixed mine after saying twice they couldn't reproduce the problem.

Default Yeah, they were these flat metal sticks, tapered at the ends with a notch about 1/2" from the end

and a ring on the other end to pull the radio out. They fit exactly into the two slots at the bottom of the radio head unit, and when inserted, pull in the springy metal strips that hold in the radio. They are common tools that many radios use. I think Mercedes uses the exact same shape.

There is a diagram of the "official" VAG radio removal tools in the Bentley repair manual, if you have one.

I changed one of my seat heater buttons and it is not quite as easy to pull them out as you made it sound :-)

Default I thought the TT had 4 clips to remove...2 at top and 2 at the bottom?

didn't know it was just 2.
