Default Okay. I hate my car again.

Stupid brakes making stupid noises all the effing time. SBS ceramic pads apparently aren't nearly as quiet as the folks at the Tire Rack seem to think they are.

But, while I was out flogging on the brakes last night to try to get them to quiet down a bit, not only did I throw one of the center caps that it took me FOUR damned months to get from Braid, but now, it's making noises pretty constantly.

Glorious, eh?

So, basically, the car looks swell -- apart from the missing center cap on my front left wheel -- but it sounds like a frickin' diesel truck or a freight train. Grr.

Any ideas as to what would make that happen?

Default Have you tried the disc brake quiet stuff?

You can also try to chamfer the leading edges of the brake pads.

Default Sorry to hear....

And not that this will help your cause at all... But you said you hate your car right now. I happen to love your car! It looks great. I've looked into Braid wheels a bit, but can't find prices. I'm guessing they are expensive. Where did you get them and how much can I expect to pay, if you don't mind me asking?

I hope the noise goes away and you're able to get a new cap quickly. Wish I could be more help...

Default You could try those thin pads that fit between the caliper and the pad...

They have adhesive on both sides and are designed to reduce brake squeal. I've seen them at local autoparts stores as well as chain stores. may be worth a try.

Not yet, but I'm about to. That, or something drastic.
