Unitronic stage 1+ upgrade on my 2016 TT coup?
What's up guys, I'm planning on upgrading my 2016 TT with Unitronic Stage 1+ this weekend. I don't remember how I came across this Unitronic stage 1+ thing. Might have seen it on YouTube or something but anyways. I looked at the charts and I couldn't believe the gains. Especially without any modes like air intake and exhaust etc. I'm going with the stage 1+ b/c from my understanding, this will not interfere with NY state inspections. Before i proceed does anyone use this brand? Is this brand good? Does anyone have another brand that might be the same or better? Or any other brands? Just fyi, I'm never modded or upgraded (whatever the term is lol) a car before. This is my 1st German car. Thanks

I am the original owner of a 2016 TT. At 5,000 mi, the car was tuned with the Unitronic Stage1+ ECU and TCU software. The car is now at 97,000 miles with no engine issues other than a camshaft actuator solenoid replacement at 85,000 miles.

Nice. Is the TCU the same as DSG? The person at the shop told me I should get the DSG when I get the Unitronic stage 1+.

Yes TCU = DSG. I change my DSG and Haldex oil every 50,000 km (so I just did my third one). The Haldex filter is cleaned each time.
The flash file also gives you D1/D2/D3... S1/S2/S3 gear indicators on the dash which is really useful
There is an option to select the launch rpm but I can't remember if it was in the ECU or TCU flash file.

I ran the 93 octane file for a long time (filling up with Sunoco/Petro-Canada 94 most of the time) but since I live close fo a Costco now, I reflashed the 91 octane file onto the car.

No issues with the TTS display. Just use CarScanner / OBDeleven and you're good to go
It's nice to have your own Unitronic cable just in case you ever have to flash back or get the urge to go Stage 2
