New TT sales in the US the past few years was just awful. The average dealer only sold 1 TT every 2-4 months. That is the primary reason why late model used TT are so scarce. The primary source of late model used TT is off-lease after 2-3 years and there just were not that many in the US.

I'm not buying the "limited supply" excuse, except for the TTRS which is a valid comment. US sales folks claim "supply chain" issues for the TT but if Audi has not solved their supply chain issues since it started in 2020, someone in Audi Corporate should be fired. In fact, in supposed "supply chain limited" 2020, 832 TTs were sold in the US. It jumped to 987 in "limited" 2021, then down to 461 in 2022, and 725 last year mostly due to folks who wanted to get one before production stopped. There are over 300 Audi dealers in the US so last year the average dealer sold about 2. Meanwhile, BMW had no problem manufacturing and selling about 1900 Z4s in the US last year and Toyota sold 2600 Supras. Both are direct competition to the TT. IMO, Audi priced the TT out of the market with annual increases far larger than inflation starting near the end of the Mk 2. The Z4 and Toyota Supra leaves the TT in the dust in overall performance, model for model, and cost less. Also, the TTS and TTRS ended in the C8 corvette price range, the best bang for the buck sports car ever.
I'm not complaining. I love the scarcity of the TT, I love that I almost never see another one, and I love folks walking up to me at gas stations asking "What's that?".
