Default 2016 TT Apple Carplay Retrofit?

I'm currently in the process of buying a 2016 TTS with the tech package, and I'm trying to look into the possibility of retrofitting Apple Carplay into the virtual cockpit. I searched this forum and found various posts mentioning the possibility as long as you had the tech package, but couldn't find any where I saw someone actually did it. Further confusing the matter is that the German Audi shop seems to offer the retrofit for 2016 models, but the US Audi shop does not.

Has anyone actually done this to their car?

Any personal experience or advice would be appreciated. I have a few weeks before I finalize the deal.

Thanks!

Found the same part number on the Canadian site, showing that it seems to fit... https://www.audiaccessories.ca/p/Aud...4M0051472.html

It's a set of activation codes that your Audi dealer will input into their tool, provision the car against Audi servers, and then update the MMI software.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if anyone had success in getting their US dealer to actually do it.

I was considering a 2016 before I bought my 2017 and asked my Service Manager for a quote on the upgrade. Like you, I only saw it advertise4d on the Audi GMBH site. He said he would do it for $500.

Thanks, that gives me hope. I'll call around some dealerships and ask.

The r8 guys talked about it when Audi first released it, and a few mentioned having it done. It's available in all regions.

Any advice for getting this done. I called a couple of dealers and of course they told me it can’t be done. Can you share your service manager contact so the service manager from my dealer can talk to him and know what to do? Thanks

I haven't taken delivery of the car yet, but I will probably try in a few weeks once I get the car and let everyone know.
