Default TTRS Brakes stop great - lots of brake noise

My RS4 brakes never gives me a problem. Stops on a dime and no virbration/noises.

However, my 2012 TTRS is a different story. The person in Audi that is responsible for designing these brakes should be ashamed. All that talk about German "Engineering". I was told yesterday, that the same brakes are on the 2013 TTRS models.

If you have a TTRS I would like to hear about your brakes and what your dealership is telling you.

Thanks in advance.

You need a descent Audi specialist close by you to help with this sort of things. Audi dealers are mostly great for buying the car however they often lack the finer knowledge which you need right now. The issue could simply be down to bedding the pads in properly.

Anyway, the stock TT-RS brakes leaves a great deal to be admired. I changed mine to RS6 C6 V10 and have never looked back. The stock TT-RS pads did not make any noise when I had them however the RS6 pads did...easy solution was to change the pads for something better and noise was gone.

It really is a simple issue to resolve and one I personally would not 'bother' Audi with as for every 1000 cars made I estimate a handful will have noise issue and the solution is out there so get that looked at by an Audi specialist and happy motoring thereafter.

Do a search on this topic. See my prior posts. Fact is that a huge number of TTRS owners complain their cars brake like a screeching dump truck. Audi HQ knows this, has issued no technical bulletin on the problem, and has no solution. My dealer laments they can do nothing for me. What burns me is Audi knew of this problem when they sold me the car, but w/o disclosure. This means they transfered poor quality to me and left me to eat it. I've tried seeding/beeding the brakes, tracking the car hard, long mountain trips with heavy braking. The screeching always comes back, ruining my enjoyment of this car.

If you go to thevtrackmthe brakes will bed and the noise will be gone. The bigger worry are the crap rotors. Mine lasted only a couple of days on the track. I ended up going with a custom set from Loba (AP discs) n

I also switched out the stock pads after they imploded. Went wit Pagid blues. They work great.

I bought a set go TT Shop blades, but mine already had them installed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out the Pagit Blues.

I have a TT RS as press car for a week (I write reviews). The brakes are generally quiet, but a few times I've been surprised by a loud squeal, when stopping quickly from a low speed.

Default Accuracy of TT RS trip computer?

I have a TT RS for a week, as a car I'll be reviewing. The trip computer reports surprisingly good fuel economy for such a highly tuned engine. With moderate foot on the gas, I'm seeing low to mid 20s in suburban driving, and low 30s on the highway. If I'm very light on the gas and have stops only every 2-3 miles, also low 30s in the suburbs.

Even when I make a few full throttle acceleration runs the trip computer stays above 20.

Are these numbers accurate, or does the trip computer in these tend to read a few MPG (or more) high?

Interested in anyone who has been able to compare the trip computer against how much they've actually put in at the pump.

I had forgotten about the noise which also went away after my one and only track day so far. However my brakes are "damaged" now also. I also had same issue with B6 S4 and my previous TTS.
My "tuner" is also recommending the same fix(AP discs). So track days are "safe" and painless now? I also do winter and snow, do you know if this brake upgrade will fit with the OEM UK 18" wheels (which we don't get in NA)?

I am getting about 10% better mileage than my TTS. Basically same usage as yourself. I will see what happens now that school is back in session. My theory is that you can down shift more efficiently with a manual; the DSG required higher RPM to get smooth downshifts.

Default Good News - TT RS Brake Noises Gone

It is truly astonishing what 4 pieces of 1/8 inch thick steel shimes placed on the back of your brake pads can do to stop brake noises. Good job Audi!
