Default S Tronic Paddle Stuck

2008 Audi TT w/S-tronic. Has anyone else had the problem of the Upshift paddle (right side of steering wheel) sticking in the "change" position? That is, the paddle is hung up (frozen) in its "pull" position towards the driver. The upshift paddle does not move backwards to its at rest position.

The car still shifts properly through all gears when used as an automatic, and the Downshift paddle operates properly. I CAN upshift and downshift manually using the gear shift lever.

Spoke to my Audi dealer service write-up man and he says, "No recalls, tsb, and I've never heard of that problem happening before."

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Service writer is correct. I replaced a few of them. They just go bad.

Dave:

Thanks for the quick response. Did you buy your replacements at the dealer or is there a less-expensive source?

I just brought my '08 TT for this exact service today. The replacement is covered under warranty. If it's a certified pre-owned, then there is an $85 deductable.

"N", when you say "covered under warranty" is that because you have less than 50,000 miles on your TT? I have almost 70,000 miles on my TT so my original warranty has expired.

Right, under 50K it would have been covered under the origianl warranty. I bought mine as CPO and had BOTH (-) and (+) replaced under the CPO warranty since the left one "felt" a little sticky ($85 deductable). I've seen the aluminum after market shifters selling for $90 if you wanted to switch to aluminum.

From what I understand the replcament inolves taking steering wheel apart and "handling" the airbag. Not the type of work I would do omn my own. Should not be more than an hour for a shop to make the change.

I dont wanna to revive a necro thread but happened to me last day....my paddle shifters are blocking randomly....
But, i just forced them "a little" (be careful to not apply too much brut force on them) and after 2 or 3 tries they just release by themselfs.....so...i guess some dust or anything else is there, and with time ( i didnt used the paddles too much, 2 or 3 times in a year) hardened with time and is blocking the switch in someway.
What i did ?
I just dropped in the space between the each paddle and the stearing wheel some electrical dust/moisture contact spray, i let him 5 or 10 min to do it's job and....surprise....they are working again....
But, i guess i need to reaply this spray 2 or 3 more times for safe...
So before changing the paddles do what i did and i hope you'll have my luck too.
All the best guys, TT is a very nice car, i just love it, but it needs a more attention to maintain i guess.

P.S.

Sorry for any grammar mistakes but is not my native language.
