Where did I go wrong on this brake job?
Around a year ago I swapped worn pads and rotors with new OE discs and HPS pads from ECS. I wire-brushed the slide points, lubed the pins, bled the calipers, and properly bedded the pads per HPS's instructions.
Lately, my wife has been complaining that the brakes 'don't feel right.' Today while backing down our (steep) driveway, she said the brakes BARELY get her down safely.
I didn't have much time to troubleshoot before having to go work. The fluid level is okay and clean looking. I did notice a strange thing with the front outer pads. Both sides have an angled gap between the pad and rotor. The bottom of the pad is touching the rotor, but toward the outside of the rotor, I can actually get my fingertip between the pad and rotor.
I'm guessing new pads are in order, but how can I keep this from happening again?
