Default It can't stop something mechanical from happening

which is what occurs when you downshift into a gear too low for the speed you're running.

Default Question, can valves be so slightly bent that catastrophic damage does not happen immediately

but over the course of time? Question #2, how long has A6 owned the car?

Default I don't see your point ..

I'm siding with the dealer on this one.
Any of us can make a mistake but we should deal with the consequences.
How is the dealership a 'stealership' for not acting like a charity? come on.. facts are facts are the hard overrev is the main problem here

Default Re: How else would you bend valves (which is the problem)...

So I guess this can be a lesson to other TT owners. Be very careful when driving a manual transmission. Do not drive around in too low of a gear for long. Make sure to shift directly and precisely to get in the right gear at the right rpm. It just takes one mistake in your shifting for something catastrophic to happen.

If I ever get my car back I am sure as hell am going to put more caution in my shifting habits.

Default Yup, and every dealer checks all 300 points on the checklist..>>

Bwaha...(or at least they say they do and check the little boxes) You can bet their paper trail is on file..(Audi would require it)
