Default tire noise

i'm getting some pretty obnoxious noise arond 55. i don't have any record on how long the tires have been on the car but tread depth is good and wear looks to be even. any chance rotating will help my dilema?

TIA!

Default Probably not...>

but maybe you'll get lucky. Seems Performance tires start to get noisy anywhere from 15-20K depending on brand.....

Default You need to try "scrub 'em HARD", many times this works >>>

1) On a 'quiet/ no traffic' road, drive about 30 MPH - You WILL Scare other Drivers!
2) Just like race drivers warming up their tyres, make VERY HARD left and right "swerves"
3) Do this 6 or 7 times, then go try some highway driving...

Thanks to ZesTTee, this fixed my Pilot sports (now long gone).

It's worth the try - let us know if it worked

Default Rotate every 5,000 miles. Look at Tire Rack site for noise levels...

For different tires. Earlier this year I changed from BFG KDW2's (great performance wet or dry) to Kumho Escsta SPT because Kuhmo has quieter rating on Tire Rack site.

My tire expert has indicated that the extreme chevron patterns in the center of performance tires tend to be the culprit causing noise.

Default Sometimes not..>

My Kuhmos were so bad at 15K I threw them out. Partially my fault though as i was experimenting with alignments for about 4K....:-). They were sacrificed for the cause!

Default Feathered treads...

Hard acceleration from a dead stop tends to rip up the treads on both the forward and lateral axis of the tires. As the condition gets worse the noise will begin to migrate to your lower speed spectrum (30s) and then you'll finally decide it's time to replace them.

Just another 2 cents...

noise may not even be from your tires, I had road noise and it ended up being bad wheel bearings
