Default Depends on location to some degree but that's on the high side

I've had mine done twice for about $800 each time (parts plus labor). First time was at the dealer, second was at an indy shop

Default I live in Alexandria. Here is what I recommend...

Do not use Audi of Alexandria! Go to New German Performance in Lorton, VA. Guy by the name of John Martin owns the shop, great person, great shop (specializes in Audi/VWs). I had my timing belt done by them a couple years back (up at their shop in Maryland). I believe I paid around $400 for the labor and I picked up an ECS timing belt kit (for around $300 I believe) and they had no problem using those parts.

I'm sure they will quote you a fair price.

Default Great! I need to swing by there soon myself, time for some routine stuff.

They've always been good to me, hope you have the same experience.

Default Did you know that there was more to it than just the belt right?

The belt, tensioner, water pump and cam shaft seal are usually all replaced at the same time. Most also do the thermostat.

To my knowledge the belts don't fail. It's the tensioner or pump.
