OK. 19 years after this post I'm about to do the same. I rescued a hurricane flooded TT Roadster. I've had it for 2 months now and I can now drive it around the Condo. Just finished Shift bushings but had to do fine tuning to get into R. All control modules are toast so I plan to run as much as I can with a switch panel. Window motors and regulators are frozen and need fixing. Window motors can be disassembled mechanically but the electronics may need to be bypassed {voltage reversing rocker switch). Back to your post. Thanks for making it sound so easy but I don't seem to be as agile to get it out but I'm going to try.
