Replacing front strut bushing and bearings... a couple of questions...
Finally after 125K.
Is OEM the best way to go or is aftermarket OK?
Is there a polyurethane replacement?
Also is there anything else I should consider doing when were in there?
As always thanks for your help.

at least you got 125K out of them...my case, not much mileage and they are toast.
most likely, the bushings...not the bearings. but since the bearings don't cost much, i'm doing them again soon.
like Sal said...the only ones that was mentioned was parts4vw.com.

OEM is best IMO>>>
anything stiffer really firms up the ride, and if you got 125k out of the first set, i would stick with that!
I have to replace mine every 50k or so with all of the poly i have in the front end, not to mention the 19's! ;-)

so many miles of crappy roads really banged everything up pretty good. my upper spring perches were bent and mangled.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&engine=180HP&mo del=TT%20MKI&submodel=FWD&category=Suspens ion&subcategory=OEM">http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&engin

You'll want to pick up a few nuts/bolts...
When you pull the strut, there are a few bolts/nuts that are single use. You'll want to have those on hand and not reuse the old ones. Items 13, 18 and 19 from diagram in the link below. Item 4 should come with your new bearings. I believe item 1 is supposed to be replaced too but I installed new struts and they came with one.
Since you're at 125k miles, maybe you should replace the struts since you'll have them out anyway?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1789093.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1789093.phtml</a></li></ul>
