Default Ordered the following from World Impex (arriving today).

855876 Temp Sender Green $22.60
- Guy said the other ones ($6) were having issues...was unsure so paid more for one he said was solid.
4632 Water Temperature Sensor O-Ring $1.25
4573 C Clip Retainer $0.36

6063 Valve Cover Gasket Set $20.00
- Guy said the difference between the $20 and $30 was one had an Audi box, but both were same manuf.

257361 Fuel Filter 8.00
-Recent post on AW prompted me to buy this.

6367 Thermostat $12.55
-Noticed the temp reading widely fluctuating during drive from WV to VA. Steve said it may be the t-stat, so will change.

75238 Oil Dipstick Funnel $6.03
-Going to have on hand so when I eventually break (er, replace it).

274086 Ignition Coil $100.00
-Would you replace these all at once, or wait until they fail? Am planning on just replacing all of them unless I'm told that's a bad idea. Just trying to avoid CELs.

178825 Wiper Blade Insert $11.8
-LOL, the old ones were so worn, the leading edge was held on by rubber threads. Sad!

208046 1 L Bottle Red Line Manual Trans Fluid $32.91
-Have two other bottles, so going to change both the tranny and diff.

248988 Oil Pan Sealant $15.00
-Going to look at filter screen, so need a new seal, right?

5012 Bulb $8.96
4628 Light Bulb Single $6.44
162019 Bulb (N0177382) $3.24
269531 Light Bulb $5.9871740
-all on hand if/when it burns out.

71740 Plug BKR6E $9.68
-THIS is what I really want to hear about. Yes, have STFA and read many posts...just curious as to recent opinion. Am going to pull my old ones, check them out, and probably replace. May go with the Densos after 5-7k (found them Denso IK20).

MANY thanks to all the posters who put up how-tos and Fotkis...VERY, VERY helpful. This is all simple stuff, but the site lets newbs (like me), not screw it up too badly.

Default You missed something >>

With the thermostat you also need to order a new housing and o-ring.

Default I would change all your coilpacks, but if you aren't having specific issues with the ones in the car

keep them as spares (at least 1 in the car).

Default I would keep more than 1 spare in the car >>

Both times I had issues, 2 were bad. I keep a full set in the car. I also only change the ones that are bad but that doesn't seem to be the popular opinion.

Default I don't like my cars cluttered, so I look for little cubby holes to put stuff. When cleaning out

the rear cargo area, there seems to be a place to be a place to put at least two of the coil packs in there (will store in bubble wrap). Will also keep a couple of spark plugs handy (using cardboard end caps and some tape to protect gap).

Super idea...thanks!

Update: WRONG...no room for coil packs in the spare compartment. *sigh*

Default BTW, I had a Amazon coupon, so used for the Bentley and the Formula 5 grease. Will wait

for it to arrive before attempting the shocks and struts.

Audi is going to want the car in a few days for the cluster, so after that, I am going to put the car on ramps in my driveway and then remove the control arms (IF they will come out). Then, I'll send each unit and the associated hardware. Will package with bubble wrap and popcorn. I've got your address and thanks, in advance, for the help and good work.

Default Oh, sorry, forgot to mention. The maint. records of this car indicate nothing in the way of coil

pack replacements, so like most other stuff on this car, am operating from the assumption it's stock (read old).

NO issues I can discern from coil packs, but again, wtf do I know?

Will replace and keep as spares.

LOL, piece by piece, I'll probably replace many of the things in this car.

AGAIN, all in an effort to make it comfortable and up-to-date.
