Default Update: per dealer parts dept., some have a pilot bearing, some don't...

He wasn't sure which did and which didn't, but mine doesn't use a pilot bearing.

And for 2Tonic who thought he knew everything, "your car MUST have one...without it, you would be in a world of hurt in no time." You don't know everything.

Default TT225 (quattro) Pilot Bearing

I am baffled myself. Looking at the transmission input shaft, I am missing the 'tip' that slides into the pilot bearing.
Really no pilot bearing for the quattro TT?
Can someone confirm?

Had no problem ordering a pilot bearing, but don't see how it would connect to tranny.

If you mean throwout bearing, it's right there in your picture. Integrated with the slave cylinder. Where the hydraulic line attaches.
