A4 is a great car and superior to funky Ford in every respect save the fun factor.

Been living with this A4 loaner for a week while dealer attends to a bag of problems with TT. Sounds stupid to call the A4 a bore but, that's my impression.

Default I also had one as a loaner and -- same opinion

I guess if the 1.8T was chipped and given a great exhaust and a bit more handling, what would that do?

BTW, my loaner had a terrible interior -- the cream vinyl with aluminum accents (not good) My old 96 A4 with the 2.8 and 5 spd was a dog in some ways (at low rpms), but the interior was well done.

Default I concur (mostly); it's so much more sedate and far less tossable than my TT...

...but what else can you expect from a heavy old sedan? It is downright stately in feel next to my 225TTR. We have a 3.0 quattro and I LOVE the torque and revviness of the Cosworth motor but the fact is it's just not a sports car. And the thing will come unglued when you hit a bump in the twisties. Granted, it doesn't have the sport package but even with it the car is still not as nimble as the TT. I wouldn't go so far as to say boring, though - it can still be a real hoot to drive.

That's what I thought when I went to look at the new A4s recently. The cream interior was horrible, the silver trim around the instruments looked very tacky. My old A4 (97 I think) had a really nice creamy interior which looked much more sumptuous. I hope they don't start decontenting the TTs like that
