Default No spare tire in 2006 3.2 S Line

Now that I am on the forum thought i would post this.. I blew out a tire on the freeway and discovered that the car has NO spare tire! I found that really odd. Had to be towed!

I've got the 2005 3.2 S-Line. It should at least have Audi's tire sealant kit! Maybe it had already been used, or you might just have not seen it. This should give you enough pressure and tire integrity to take it somewhere. Too bad, though!

Yes I have the kit... But no Spare tire. I had a Blow out which shredded the tire. I just was amazed there was no Spare.

Actually not very odd at all. Becoming more and more common on sports cars and others. To save weight and cut costs.

That's why I added a tire pressure monitor to the wife's '04. With advance warning you can often stop before shredding the tire.

It's not odd. There's no room for a spare back there. As you see, your battery is back there instead of at the nose of the car. Most blow outs are preventable in not driving tires with bulges, or delaminating sidewalls. basically knowing the condition of all 4 tires at all times. fortunately they're on the rare side.

I have an 01 TT since 02 and never had a tire problem. Be sure you have decent rubber in terms of condition. Buy quality tires and keep the pressure at their normal range. Perhaps you can determine the reason for the tire failure (object, overheated, excessive wear, etc.). This can help with prevention. The Miata has never had a spare tire and more manufacturers are making cars without a spare under the banner of better MPGs. I took my spare out (32Lbs) for a couple of months and did not notice any better MPGs at all. So, it is back on. I get new tires about every three years since, regardless of brand and price, they wear out due to the materials used on Z rated tires. Drive carefully out there!
