Default I read an article today in the papers from CR that said extended warranties...

are not worth it in their opinion. But they probably never owned a TT. ;-)

Default but hey, if most of the big repairs happen early, you still have a few years after till they

happen again! like cluster failure, timing belt.

Default Warranty Direct....Plan on getting my $$ back before end of coverage

Generally I wouldn't waste $$ on extended warranties....but owning both a TT and a Range Rover dictate otherwise.. It made sense for me because I plan on keeping the car for at least 100k and did figured I could pay for the warranty over a year and budget that $$ rather than one or two large expenses. So far it is working out on both cars. The warranty has paid out over $1k with 40K 2.5 years still to go. The RR well it's a given..

Good Luck

Default my advice is...

buy it from the dealer before the factory warranty expires. It will cost between $2000 and $3000. But well worth the peace of mind. Mine had a $100 deductible per visit, not per problem. It paid for itself, but not until the end of the life of the warranty. I was covered to 100K. Had most of my rinky dink repairs done around 88K and high 90's. Stuff like tranny flange seal, accelerator sensors, cluster(even though it worked fine), dome light, cd changer door, maf (early). Then my 30K miles old water pump blew at 93K, and the warranty covered the timing belt job, but didn't pay for a new tensioner. Still, better than me footing the whole bill. Currently flying naked at 105K miles. All's well so far. Knock!

Then you need to find a good extended warranty that fits your needs.

Default Rafa's garage.... and other TT's and VW/A4/A6 in the area rely on it too.

I just do my own work. Extended warranties are good if you don't work on it. I have mixed feelings about them.

Default AUL: eh, not the best. Probably get manufacturer warranty from now on.. EDIT

I figured I'd save money and get the 2nd best warranty, which "covers everything". Apparently the best one does. The radio isn't covered either. My instrument LEDs are disappearing, and in the fine print, I'm not sure if my engine is covered when my timing belt breaks, but I got the impression it would be, or if they'll just say, here's $75 for a new belt, good luck. Seals are covered I believe, and I only have one Audi dealer in town, so I'll be taking it in for new front driveshafts eventually. 4 year 40k miles for $1,600, I figure wasn't so bad.

SO I called about the driveshafts to see if the CV boots are covered.. NOPE. Also I asked if my MAF sensor was covered, and the lady asked how it failed. I said. It's a sensor, it stopped working, and BS ensues. So I have to take it to a dealer apparently, because they don't trust people. F'n AUL.
