what's that thing weigh? >
and about what hp do you guess? I was reading an article on '63/64/65 911 and was pretty tempted; 2300 pounds/160 hp except the 65 911s (1800#?) - any comments?

hahahaha...nothing like that Will>>>
this puppy weighs JUST 1700lbs.....and is putting out a whopping 70hp. Nothing like early 911/901 cars, which was a flat 6 to start, not a 4.
The fun part about 356's is the fact you can drive them at 10/10's and hang the tail out on the track all day long. That, and they are extremely durable...this one is no exception.
They will never win a drag race with the OEM motor in them, but for the time they were "quick" compared to their competitors....
Muscle cars will kill it...but that is not what its for.

yeah, figured as much! >
and they are great cars - had a 'friend' with a convertible 356 back 25 years or so ago - seems like it was a '58 - great fun tooling around in!
So what, should I look around for an early 911 (or 901)? Seemed pretty good from the writeup...

better off with a >>.
71-74 911....T or E..S if you can afford it. Those early 901/911's are very expensive if you find one in good shape. Porsche did not do galvanized sheetmetal till 75 so....;-)
The nice part about an early 70's car is it is pre-emissions...and you can drop in a 3.2 liter pretty easy...then that thing is a ROCKET!
