How do I get the Quattro badge off the grille w/o taking the whole thing off...
i've been periodically prying a bit at it hoping that it'll just fall off one of these days

It is held on by 2 clips. They have "barbs" that hold them onto the badge......
You should be able to lift/pry the clip up and back off the badge.
Worst case, if you pulled the badge really hard, it should come off without damaging the grill. The trick is not losing the clips, which will end up below.
