Default Had a chat with dealer owner today...745i BMW is a diaster.

1) Engines are shutting down for no apparent reason under any and all conditions.

2) I drive is confusing and spooking older drivers (principal customer for this car).

3) The rear deck line is common complaint (nothing new).

Dealer indicated the market is now flooded with used 745s (already) and BMW is footing floor plan costs for new 745s. Further concern is this is the flagship for intro of new 500 and 600 series which look much the same.

I can confirm a dozen of these cars are on the lot which is extraordinary for this market.

Too bad for BMW and dealers on this one.

Default #1 brings a whole new meaning to this photo. I think a caption contest is in order.

Default That's a total shame. Love the older models. All the spy pics of the

new generation Bimmers have that grotesque rear end as well. Don't know who is doing their market research or design focus groups.

Default Agreed. I have a '98 and the '02s are underwhelming at best. Chicago dealers are leasing them for.

around $700/month with minimal downpayment - I'd call this a fire sale. The thing is, I kinda like the way it looks EXCEPT (and its a bit except) for the back...just plain weird...the interior is nice, but I have no idea what they were thinking with the iDrive. Waiting for the new Jag to hit the streets to see what that looks like...or maybe even the new Bentley MSB's!

Default Car magazine had an article about the iDrive a year or two ago.. they interviewed

the head of a pilot's union in the UK to get his impression. He basicly said its not bad once you learn how to drive it. This from a man who "drives" 747's
