Default Got my "bill" from the ticket I got driving home from TT-East.

If you missed my old post about this, I got pulled over on the way home from TT-East. Rather than give me a speeding ticket (I was going 75 in a 55), the officer "cut me a break" and gave me a ticket for "Disobeying traffic control device." Supposedly it is a less severe offense, kind of like running through a stop sign. The ticket had no indication of a fine nor did the websites of the NY judicial system. Instead I had to mail in the ticket with my plea, they then decide what the fine should be and mail me a bill.

The bill came back this week from the Ticonderoga Town Court: $150 fine + $55 surcharge. For 205 bucks, if it means no change to my insurance, I guess I'll take it.

Default In TN, if you're doing < 75 in a 55 interstate zone, it's just a fine w "no points"on your record

I don't know about other states though.

Default ouch... $200 for that? sucks.

i wonder what the fine for speeding would have been. i've had my fair share of speeding tickets in various states and they've never been close to $200. the east coast sucks.

Default He did give you a break

It's two points for this on an NY license. (I had this same thing a few years back when they still allowed "plea bargaining".) My insurance didn't go up since it was not a speeding violation. Don't even think they picked up on it since it was only 2 points.

If you think that's bad, in Louisiana, I had to pay $230 for a 72 in a 65!!

No question about it, you got a BIG break. 20 over in NY and they can impound your car.

You forget, the cop reduced speeding to running a light/stop sign. Speeding in ny=$$$, $400 to $600
