How do you like them? I have them on a FWD and I'm very very disappointed with the performance: braking is good, but they slip a lot on acceleration and in turns, even on dry road. Wtf?

Default Axel - see my posts earlier today OTOF and yesterday here...

I only have about 500 miles on 'em, but their handling response seems muted. I have 'em in 235/40/18 and really do not like them. Am getting new tires next week.

Here's my post from yesterday:
"... as in, the tires' handling is not sharp enough. When I make a quick move, for example, it feels as though the tail is lagging and swaying. Imagine a train, where the head of the train moves and the caboose follows a few moments later. Also, I don't think they have the road holding of my other tires. I'm comparing this to the response with my Pilot Sports and then my Yoko AVS Sports (both awesome tires, though the worn-out Yokos were as loud as Super Swampers...LOL). "

The AVS ES-100s are seem like very good, long-lasting tires, and are smooth and quiet out of the box. However, I need a more aggressive tire. So I'm returning them and getting the Goodyears. I would never have considered Goodyear but for the outstanding reviews and nice rebate.

Default ES100's have a treadwear rating of 280 don't expect high performance from any tire with...

a high treadwear rating. Means the rubber is hard.

Default Was aware of that, but this is a sidewall/construction issue...

... as far as the handling response is concerned. No steering or road feel.

Luke @ The Tire Rack said they were good so I was going to try them, not after reading your post.

Default I bought a set to replace the OEM's this summer.....

Had purchased a set for my Saab Turbo and was very pleased so when time came to replace the tt's sneakers I jumped on the band wagon.... What a mistake! 4k later the rears are over half gone!. Not only that but the noise has been getting so bad I took the tt to the dealer thinking a wheel bearing was bad. Two weeks ago I put on my winter sneakers and what a difference in the noise level. Thought that winter tires were going to make things louder. What a surprise!

I have 225/40x18" Yokohama AVS ES 100's on 18" RS4 Replica rims. They handle fine. I believe on a par with the 17" Michelin Pilot Sports that came with the car. Steering response and road feel, braking, wet or dry are good. I bought them for Summer tires because the Michelins wear too fast. Now that the rainy season is near, I may put the Michelins back on for wet Winter weather. But the RS4 and Yokohamas go back on when the rainy season is over.

Default Hard is right...>>

I put a set of 16's on my Miata with KYB 8 way shocks (set on #2). They're a little harsh over sharp road changes, but I may need suspension bushings as well. Handle good in this application though....Only 500 miles...too early to tell on noise issues...
