Default TT and Tijuana..

Living in San Diego and Tijuana (TJ) being a close drive away...
I decided one early afternoon to go along with my sudden urge to go to TJ to get some of those infamous TJ tacos

When I crossed the border, I was immediately pulled over. The mexican border patrol guys had me at the shoulder of the road for about 20 minutes checking my registration, title, insurance and my driver's license. He kept on asking me who owns this car, and if it was stolen and why I was in Mexico. I think he thought the tt was some $100k+ car that I stole and I'm trying to smuggle it into mexico.

so after that ordeal, I finally get to avenida revolucion (the main strip street) and proceed to get them tacos. they were delicious btw.

Washing away the memories of prior events with my tacos and ice cold horchata, i proceed to go back to the united states. The US border guy decides that me driving a tt into mexico and my reasoning for going to mexico "just for tacos" is very suspicious.

He searches my entire car from under the seats to under the spare tire of my coupe and he looks in every crevice.

In the end he couldn't find anything (obviously) and let me go.

Although I can't really be mad that he searched my car on suspicions (i will never tell them I just went for tacos again that's for sure), i will never bring my tt into mexico again. I guess it just stands out way too much.

Default I had a biz associate who decided to drive his new Lincoln down to Mexico.....>

He made the serious mistake of taking a gun with him....They found it, and coincidentally, some local official was in need of a new Lincoln. He sat in a Mexican jail for three months before his wife finally got him out....He returned to Virginia with his wife but not with the Lincoln (or the gun).....Not a pretty story.

Default It's like Tombstone before Wyatt Earp arrived ... Be Very Careful

People are getting killed, robbed, etc. all the time in Mexico ... especially in or near the border towns.

Driving a TT there is like screaming ... COME AND GET ME!!!

I had a close call myself just driving my Ford F350 dually in Mexico.

Default I'm also in San Diego and...

I would not take my TT into Mexico under any circumstances.

Did take a chartered "party bus" (replete with stripper's pole) to Puerto Nuevo recently and that was pretty cool even if my date did have a bit too much tequila. They pulled us over and searched the bus coming back, so it's not just a TT thing. Again, I wouldn't do it.
