Default Cost comparing at store today. Noticed pics of dirty valves on Gumout and Shell fuel cleaners were

EXACTLY the same. Leads me to not believe either company's claims as I want to see pictures of what their product supposedly does (and not some generic picture).

Additionally, Techron concentrated cleaner was $5.97 and treats up to 12 gallons. Is this cleaner MORE concentrated then what is available at the pump? If so, Chevron averages .10-.15/gal more than competing stations. So, a 12-gal fill-up woud be less than $2 more. If the ratios are the same, why would anyone buy the Techron concentrate?

And, for TT content, does anyone use anything beside Techron as a fuel additive?

Default RoberTT's Valves....>

at 130K or so when we pulled his intake manifold off at Shackfest '08....You might want to ask him about the secret to his success since he bought the car new (2000 180 with all the mods). I was impressed.

Techron concentrate is just that...use it every now and then to keep fuel senders scrubbed and valves and injectors clean. CHEAP insurance IMO...

Default Seriously, if you buy a car with 100k miles that are

loosely documented, you cannot compare it to a well maintained vehichle. Before you criticize, it would be better to educate yourself as you seem to be fairly needy.

Default Try Motul fuel system cleaner

Tried the Techron solution but thought my sender or cluster was the problem after about 5 treatments. One can of Motul and the fuel gauge now works perfectly. I use it regularly now and it seems to work great.

World Impex has it but you can get it cheaper if you search.

145,000 on my car, i've used techron twice, and seafoamed once. Valves are even cleaner than that.

Default Uh, mine look NOTHING like that at all. VERY caked on top with carbon. The center one on all four

cylinders, but the intake and exhaust valves are pretty crusty.

Will contact RoberTT. As always, gracias.
