Default cat going bad . . . sheesh ! Big $$ replacement, anyone replaced with used cat ?

It's been an expensive few months for my 96K mile TT. Coil packs (did them myself), O2 sensors (both), clutch & flywheel, temp sensor, now this. Car's running OK, but constant CEL is annoying. Dealer price is $1200 for a new cat. Been searching for a used cat, or aftermarket. Any suggestions ? TIA !

42DD 3" downpipe street series?

http://www.42draftdesigns.com/categories/products/tt225downpipe.

10% off coupon now "holidays2008"

$650

Should still pass inspection (at least on-visual) even though it may not be CARB legal.

Sure it can't be anything else like a MAF?

Default Someone installing a 42DD downpipe may be able to help.

Magnaflow does make replacements for TT, but I am sure they are not inexpensive.

But it bolts in to the 42DD piping. Can work, but would take some welding work.
