I think it's great information. I for one feel better if I can understand why something fails instead of just blindly replacing parts.

Haha, nice bluechip..

but nonetheless thanks for the information. Most is really over my head, I dont have any background with this type of stuff.

As of right now, about a week after regapping I still have absolutely zero problems and the car is running very well. So, at this point in time I wont mess with anything... It doesnt need it!

No, you pull them out and test each side. If you can get a hold of a coil from a 97 ~ 99 1.8T, you'll see what I mean. Electrical tape is only a temporary solution for boot cracks. When they crack, it is quite pronouced after the electricity has arc'd though it leaving a carbon trace.

On my '01 TT, I pulled out the boot of one of my bad coils. This is because I was experimenting on replacing them with Nology wires.
