Default Anyone else had a water pump replaced...

My 01 225QC (Amulet/Black) starting having some troubles last week. As I was moving along in bumper to bumper traffic with temps in the 90s, the water temp guage starting climbing--getting half-way between Normal and High. This, of course, caused me great concerns and I drove it right to the dealership who promptly put me in a Red/Black 1.8 Jetta loan car.

They diagnosed the problem as a failing water pump. Car has 23,500 miles on it--sure glad it's under warranty!

Anyone else had similiar problems with a 180 or 225 and had the water pump replaced???

Default Can't imagine that a water pump is "faulty"..........

Either the impeller is still attached to the shaft or it's not.

Seems a bit odd to me.

Default Some water pumps have the *blades* actually coorode away, but...

this can't be the problem on this unit, way too few miles for that.

Default Yes

Total failure and loss of coolant at about 20k. Dealer commented that they do not see that often.
